Global Gain Social Investments

Global Gain is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Lexington, Kentucky, and serves the philanthropic social sector in two ways. First, the organization helps individual and institutional social investors (philanthropists) to more wisely channel their money into effective organizations and projects in the developing world. To do this, Global Gain has developed a unique due-diligence model that significantly reduces the burdens of the grant-filing process for both grantors and grantees. Secondly, our organization helps NGOs in the developing world "scale-out" effective models to organizations with similar missions to reduce redundancy in the social sector. Launched in 2005 with more than $5 million in funding, the Kentucky Seed Capital Fund invests in early-stage Kentucky businesses that specialize in biomedical products, health-care services, medical devices, and health-care information technology. KSCF invests at a company’s earliest stages, providing critical capital at a stage of development when there are few capital sources, developing a pipeline of investment opportunities for later-stage venture funds. In its first year of operation, the KSCF invested in three promising companies, all of which emerged from research at Kentucky universities. KSCF has offices in the Louisville Medical Center and at UK’s Coldstream Research Campus.
